These following cars that have recently been judged as the greenest cars of 2011:
In the Supermini range the Kia Picanto 1.0 Air. Kia has been gaining a lot of ground recently; their cars are well made and just in case anyone doubted that, they now provide a seven year warranty. The Picanto has CO2 emissions of 99g/km and a combined fuel cycle of 67.3mpg. Kia Picanto contract hire is also very economical; starting at just £146 plus Vat per month.
In the small family car range it's the Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI Bluemotion. It also has CO2 emissions of 99g/km and an amazing combined fuel consumption of 74.6mpg. This is an excellent car; safe, strong, robust and with very low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It is little wonder that Volkswagen Golf leasing is so popular, prices start at £216 plus Vat per month.
The Ford Mondeo 1.6 TDCi Eco Zetec was classed as the greenest family car. It has excellent fuel consumption, for what is really quite a big car; 65.6mpg combined and emissions of 114g/km. This car is extremely popular, it has the Euro NCAP five star safety rating and you can lease a Ford Mondeo from £274 plus Vat per month.
The greenest executive car is considered to be the BMW 318ES; it has a lot of style and prestige and an impressive combined 62.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km. This has been BMW ’s best seller for decades, sometimes representing as much as 40% of their total sales. BMW 3 series contract hire starts at a very reasonable £315 plus Vat per month.
A very green MPV is the Renault Grand Civic, another vehicle with excellent fuel economy; 64.2mpg combined and Co2 emissions of 115g/km. The Scenic has plenty of room inside and lots of storage space, which is ideal for families. You can lease a Renault Scenic for as little as £217 plus Vat per month.
In the SUV range it is the impressive Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4. It doesn’t seem long ago when 30mpg was seen as good fuel economy, this Peugeot has a combined cycle of 74mpg and CO2 emissions of 99k/gm. This is one of the most comfortable and practical SUV’s on the market, making Peugeot 3008 contract hire one of our most popular lines. It also has the all-important Euro NCAP five star safety rating.
A green "Fun" car is the Mini 1.6 D Cooper. This car has about as much class and style as you can get in a small car. The level of demand for this car, right from the first day it was launched, must have even taken BMW by surprise. It has combined fuel consumption 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 99g/km. You can lease a Mini for £206 plus Vat per month.
The winner has to be the car that is estimated to have an extraordinary combined fuel cycle of 176mpg and CO2 emissions of 40g/km; the Vauxhall Ampera. One of the major concerns with electric cars has been what they call range anxiety; finding yourself in the middle of nowhere without any charge left to get you home. This vehicle has something known as range extender, which with the help of the vehicle’s battery gives you a range of 350 miles. Furthermore it can be re-charged in four hours.
