It appears that a war has broken out between motor manufacturers, as they try to outdo each other with their warranty offers.
Kia introduced their seven year 100,000 mile warranty, which was a good move on their part and it set them apart. Now however Hyundai are offering a five year unlimited mileage warranty; perhaps that could be of interest to a taxi drivers?
From August 1st 2010 Vauxhall is offering what they call a lifetime warranty however there is a limit of 100,000 miles, so you would have to be doing some seriously low mileage for it to last a lifetime. Also one of the ways Vauxhall escapes this liability is by making the warranty non transferable.
At the moment there does seem to be a race to offer the longest and most comprehensive warranty; lets hope the motor manufacturers don’t end up doing as Equitable Life did and offer something they find they can't ultimately deliver.
