The motor insurer Swiftcover has drawn up what they call their Vehicle Vandalism Index. Apparently the Lexus LS is the most vandalised car in the UK; this is followed by the BMW Z4. The third most vandalised car on their list is the Mini One , which is interesting.
Our experience from our own contract hire clients is that there are certain cars that couldn’t at the widest stretch of the imagination be considered luxury or prestige cars and yet they still get vandalised. After all Mini One contract hire starts at £213 plus Vat per month, hardly the monthly outlay of the rich and famous.
Many of our Volkswagen Golf leasing clients have told us of their cars being vandalised. We have concluded from this that there are two types of vandals; those who hate anyone they see as rich and successful and those who vandalise the cars they would like to own. This is probably the reason that the Mini One features so high on the list.
Also featuring in the top ten were the Mazda MX5, Audi TT , BMW X5 and BMW 5 Series . The Audi TT probably comes under the category of a car people would like to own, because it is certainly not expensive; you lease an Audi TT for £325 plus Vat per month.
The rather strange entry in the top ten was the Skoda Octavia. Skoda Octavia leasing starts at £228 plus Vat per month and whilst it’s an excellent car, why would anyone be jealous of it? Perhaps these figures are distorted a little by the profile of client that Swiftcover has, it is nevertheless a very good indicator.
It is really upsetting to come back to your car and find it vandalised, perhaps we should take comfort in the fact that those who vandalise cars will never have a nice car; their energy is all negative. Ironically they don’t realise that if their energy was positive, they could own whatever car they desired
