Demand from those looking to lease a Nissan Leaf is far from high at the moment  but these recent test results should help to change that; the Nissan leaf has become the first electric car to be awarded the coveted Euro NCAP five star rating for safety. Nissan say that what helped them to get the five star rating is that the the vehicle's battery pack is located below the rear seats, which they say, reduces the risk from high voltage and battery damage.

The Leaf which has also won the European and World Car awards, cant seem to do wrong; It scored 83% for child protection and 89% for adult safety. It also scored 65 % for pedestrian safety which is much higher than average, the fact that it doesn't have a conventional engine under the bonnet also makes a difference to pedestrian safety.

We all should probably think more about pedestrian safety, after all one day it could be our child hit by a car. Euro NCap is doing a great job in exposing the weaknesses in vehicle safety; no manufacturer wants to get less than a five star rating for their vehicle and this is causing them to concentrate far more on all aspects of safety. Would they have done it were it not for Euro NCAP? Probably not. Leasing Nissan Leaf will cost 550 plus Vat per month, for the entry model.
