When clients order their new Ford contract hire cars, very few realize that people have been buying - not leasing because that didn’t exist then – Ford cars since 1903. Within months of The Ford Motor Company being established by Henry Ford , he was exporting his first cars to England and had established his first Ford dealership in London. Britain became the main market outside of the United States.
Henry
Ford must have had his hands pretty full in the USA but that didn’t stop him establishing a manufacturing plant in the UK in 1911; the plant was in Trafford Park, a suburb of Manchester. An assembly team of just four workers started to build the Model T but before long the moving assembly line was created and by 1914 they were producing somewhere in the order of 10,000 cars annually. In 1928 building of the Dagenham plant started, the first vehicle came off the production line in 1931.
Ford went through some difficult times particularly in the 70’s and 80’s when their cars became known as Dagenham dustbins, because of their poor build quality and their tendency to rust. They were seen as a down market car that many were embarrassed to own.
A far cry from the
Ford cars of today; the designs are excellent; the quality and technology faultless.
Ford Fiesta leasing is by far our most popular line, indeed it’s the UK’s bestselling car and with justification; it has beautiful lines and great fuel economy; a combined cycle of 51.4 mpg and a Euro NCAP five star safety rating. We often have special offers on this vehicle but even at the standard price of £139 plus Vat per month it’s very reasonably priced.
