What to be aware of when looking at advertisements for contract hire?

Most advertising for Contract Hire is placed by Contract Hire brokers. As Contract Hire Brokers are not regulated by the FSA there is no standard form of advertising vehicles, although the majority of the more ethical brokers tend to advertise 3x35 (3 payments in advance followed by 35 monthly payments) and 10,000 miles per annum, to make it easy for the public to make comparisons. Of course on request other terms and mileage can be quoted. If a broker is advertising a car less expensively than other companies appear to be able to supply the vehicle, or with a much earlier delivery date, before proceeding one must try and make sure that the offer is genuine. An unfortunate scenario is for the customer to find after some weeks that in fact it is not available at that price or delivery date, particularly if they have paid a deposit. If the company has terms and conditions it is important to read them. Another safeguard is to check to see if a company is registered and audited by the BVRLA. (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association), there is a code of conduct which is mandatory upon all members.
