We will normally recommend that servicing is carried out by the main dealership, although you are not obliged to do so. However any work carried out elsewhere must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In the case of tyres for example there is no reason why a company can’t have an account with one of the local tyre specialists. It is important however to fit the manufacturer’s recommended tyre and not one that is “exactly the same” but cheaper. Using a tyre specialist to fit new tyres is generally much cheaper than having tyres replaced by the main dealership, as are things like re-gassing the air conditioning. As far as paintwork is concerned we would again recommend that the work is carried out by the main agent, or an Insurance approved company. This is because if the work is not carried out properly it could affect the anti corrosion warranty. Furthermore when the vehicle is returned to the Contract Hire Company at the end it’s term, if they are not happy with the standard of the paintwork, they may charge you to have it re-done.
